Formed in 1982

TBM Consultants has been providing expert engineering opinion for the court environment since its inception in 1982. The initial partners were Brian Murphy and his father Eugene Murphy, both civil engineers. Over the years the partnership has grown with David Marrs joining in 2001 and becoming a full partner on Eugene’s retirement.

TBM Provide

Since the formation of TBM Consultants we have striven to provide a competent professional service for the legal fraternity. For the last 20 years we have been based at 56 York Street in modern offices near to the site of the University of Ulster which is currently being redeveloped.

The advantages of a professional partnership combined with a city centre presence are many, including:

Peer review: The partners regularly work together on cases, pooling knowledge and testing hypotheses which results in strong opinions which can withstand further scrutiny.

Experienced staff: Olive, Leigh and Esther provide secretarial and accounting support for the partners. They have been with TBM for a combined period of over 70 years. This accumulated experience ensures timely organisation of agreed inspections, accurate reports and accounting. Sufficient copies of reports, photographs and scale plans are professionally bundled and presented.

City centre offices: Our offices are ideally placed to provide access to the motorway network whilst also being at a walking distance to the Belfast courts. The location helps provide a prompt service throughout Northern Ireland.

Modern technology: TBM maintain a modern computer system managed professionally. This aids the timely production of reports in the often pressurised timescales. A full archive is maintained. For many years we have used up to date CAD for the production of drawings which are printed in house from A3 size up to full A0 drawings. In the last year we have invested in case management software.

Extensive equipment: Our equipment is regularly updated and we maintain a full complement of cameras, video cameras, surveying equipment, slip/friction testing equipment, light and sound meters.

Research & professional development: We are committed to staying abreast of the latest developments and have attended important conferences on industry relevant topics.
